The City hosted a Showered and Empowered event on Thursday, August 13 at Largo Public Library. Showered and Empowered is an organization that provides free showers and laundry service to people experiencing homelessness. This event is one of several efforts that has come out of a City homelessness task team, a collaboration across City departments including team members from Largo Police, Fire Rescue, Parks, Library and Housing Division. The task team works to discuss and implement improved efforts to address homelessness in the community.

A 10 percent wastewater rate increase is proposed for the FY2021 budget and for each of the next two fiscal year budgets. Each proposed increase generates approximately $2 million in annual revenue. The proposed increases are the first increases since 2007. Rates have been restructured over the last 13 years to achieve greater equity between customers, but the restructurings did not increase total revenue.
