Community Outreach
- Brainstorming: Developing a plan for how to best engage the community for the specific project* in terms of
- Method (e.g., focus group, survey, stakeholder interviews, public meeting, virtual webinar with QA);
- Population demographics (e.g., age-group, multiple languages, tech/transportation access, timing, awareness of power dynamics / culture / stakeholder needs); and
- Potential partners (e.g., collaboration with community center/school/neighborhood group to recruit participants).
- *For "high-stakes", long-term projects this may include suggesting an external consultant which requires more time and budget.
- Review/Co-develop Product: Reviewing or helping develop an interview/focus group protocol, survey or presentation to be user-friendly and inclusive / accessible to target audience (e.g., length, wording, method of distribution, recommended software, etc.).
- Facilitation: Providing facilitation support for an in-person or virtual engagement with the community such as a public meeting, focus group, interview, presentation with QA, etc.
- Community Connections: Identifying and helping facilitate connection with community contacts (e.g., community center/school/neighborhood group/community leader/regional partners) that you're interested in collaborating with for this project through sharing contact information, email introduction, etc.
- Spanish support: Ability to provide verbal presentations in Spanish, communicate with Spanish-speaking community member, and minor product translation)
- Other areas of suppport:
- Community Recognition & Inclusion (proclamations, public education campaign, flag-raising, etc.)
- City-wide Diveristy, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Program
- External Presentations & Event Participation on City Services (City-wide outreach team)
