The U.S. Department of Energy’s new efficiency standard, SEER2, for central air conditioners will be effective January 1, 2023. All permit applications submitted after the change takes effect must comply with the new requirements found in Table C403.2.3(1). A link to the changes in the supplement to the 7th edition of the Florida Building Code can be found here.
The new minimum standard is 13.8 SEER2.
Florida House Bill 735, The pre-emption of Local Occupational Licensing eliminates local construction licensing in certain specialty trades. The attached memo provides some clarification.
Largo Building Division has moved permits to online submission only for licensed contractors. Here you will apply for the permit with no need for paper application or notary. Many over the counter permits are issued same day when they are applied for prior to 3pm. Permits requiring additional plan review can take up to 14 business days. Signed and sealed plans must be digitally signed and sealed when submitting online.
