The Building Services Division is part of the Largo Community Development Department and is responsible for permitting and inspection of construction activity, and collecting Business Tax within the city. Customer service is the top priority of the Building Division. Our focus is to ensure that all structures, commercial and residential, comply with the Florida Building Code, and all other applicable laws and ordinances. Efficient, accurate, application submittal, plan review, and inspections are paramount. Whether you are building your dream home, replacing windows, upgrading your air conditioning, constructing a high-rise building, or adding a shed to your back yard, we look forward to helping you with your project.

Changes have been made to City of Largo’s building permit fees 2023.  Click here for more information.

The U.S. Department of Energy’s new efficiency standard, SEER2, for central air conditioners will be effective January 1, 2023. All permit applications submitted after the change takes effect must comply with the new requirements found in Table C403.2.3(1). A link to the changes in the supplement to the 7th edition of the Florida Building Code can be found here
The new minimum standard is 13.8 SEER2. 

Florida House Bill 735, The pre-emption of Local Occupational Licensing eliminates local construction licensing in certain specialty trades.  The attached memo provides some clarification.

Online Permits
Largo Building Division has moved permits to online submission only for licensed contractors. Here you will apply for the permit with no need for paper application or notary.  Many over the counter permits are issued same day when they are applied for prior to 3pm.  Permits requiring additional plan review can take up to 14 business days. Signed and sealed plans must be digitally signed and sealed when submitting online.
